Zero Data Collection & Storage
We do not collect, store, track, or transmit any user data or browsing history.
- No Data Collection: We do not log your searches, viewing history, account details, or personal information.
- 100% Local Execution: Nothing ever leaves your computer or browser.
- Local Preferences Only: Your display preferences are stored strictly inside your browser using Chrome's local storage (chrome.storage.local).
How the Extension Works
ShortsGone operates via a fixed, pre-compiled stylesheet injection directly at the client end:
- It injects lightweight CSS rules into YouTube pages locally to hide distracting Shorts elements from view.
- There is no remote code execution, no external scripts loaded dynamically, and no arbitrary code evaluation.
- There is no data processing, machine learning, or background scraping of any kind.
No Third-Party Services & No Network Requests
ShortsGone makes zero network requests. It contains no third-party analytics, no tracking pixels, no telemetry, and no advertising libraries.
Permissions Justification
ShortsGone requests the absolute minimum permissions necessary to perform its single purpose:
